Mixed Media by Amy Genser
New dimensional works built from layered, rolled, and cut paper.
I play with paper, paint and glue to explore my fascination and obsession with texture, patter, and color. I construct my pieces by layering, cutting, rolling, and gluing the paper. I use different color papers as pigment to create depth and dimensionality.
My latest work comes out of my time spent on the beach and pond this summer in Rhode Island, and a recent trip to St. Thomas. I am constantly mesmerized by the water, rocks, and the light; the beach has rocks that are covered with thick, lush barnacles and seaweed. The colors are constantly changing and I love to watch the progression. One day the seaweed was purple, brown, yellow, and green. My husband made the observation that nature never clashes. I think it's perfect, irregular imperfection.
