Loving Vincent: An Animation Project by Breakthru Films and Trademark Films
A breakthrough animation film that delves into the life and death of Vincent Van Gogh as told by his paintings and through interviews of the characters closest to him until his unexpected death. The animation consists of 56,800 hand-painted frames inspired by Van Gogh's style and technique using work stations specially invented and patented by BreakThru Productions that will allow thirty painters to finish the 80-minute movie in two years. The film will be completed in 2015, the 125th anniversary of Van Gogh's death.
Loving Vincent features over one hundred and twenty of Vincent Van Gogh's greatest paintings. The plot, drawn from the 800 letters written by the painter himself, lead us to the significant people and events in the time leading up to his unexpected death.
Loving Vincent will be the world's first feature-length painted animation, and is brought to you by Oscar winning film companies Breakthru Films and Trademark Films. Every frame in the Loving Vincent movie is an oil painting on canvas, using the very same technique in which Vincent himself painted.
