Concrete: Paintings by Xiau-Fong Wee

Concrete: Paintings by Xiau-Fong Wee

Paintings of San Francisco street scenes at night.
The existence and absence of light defines our world. The right amount of light can reveal everything we see. Concrete shows the world with light taken to various thresholds, right to the edges before light disappears, blows out of control, or conforms to objects of the city.
Recognition of objects requires a small amount of information, as the brain fills in any gaps by association and interpretation. Shapes morph into abstraction, and yet still describe the concrete environment. Floating orbs and mysterious shadows dance with the power of suggestion, creating a place of your own.
