Byronic: Illustrations by Boris Pelcer
Illustrations of solitary characters that are tormented by their inability to adjust to society and suffer endlessly as a result.
Byronic is a type of character, named after the English Romantic poet Lord Byron. Byronic characters, incapable of love, or capable only of an impossible love, suffer endlessly. They are solitary, languid and their condition exhausts them. To feel alive it must be in the terrible exaltation of a brief and destructive action (Camus, The Rebel, p.49). This series was created to capture the dark mysticism of Byronic characters.
