Deep Freeze Photos of New York by Spencer Platt
Beautiful aerial photos of New York as the so-called "Siberian Express" rolled through. The weather phenomenon was given its name because the winds came in from Russia and traveled over the Arctic Circle, pushing frigid air into Canada and the United States. The images show Central Park completely blanketed with snow and ice floes on the surface of the Hudson and East River. Temperatures dropped to 2 degrees in New York and a low of -26 degrees was recorded in parts of the country.
