Hungarian Paper Money by Barbara Bernát
A series of conceptual Hungarian euro banknotes featuring European animals on one side and related plant species on the other. The original etching prints matches the proportions of the euro banknotes and even shows the skeletal structures of the animals under ultraviolet light.
I designed and prepared five denominations of ten etchings, all etched in separate copper plates. This subtle and refined form of reproduction enabled me to imitate the original technique used during the production of banknotes, intaglio printing. My goal was to create a complete series with clear design, that transcends the tradition of banknote making.
