Nine Elms to Pimlico Bridge Designs
A selection from the 74 conceptual bridge designs that have been released to the public for the new cycle and pedestrian bridge that crosses the River Thames in London, between Nine Elms and Pimlico. The competition, commissioned by The London Borough of Wandsworth, includes a mix of world renowned architects and up-and-coming practices but the designs are being displayed on an anonymous basis so that the concepts are the sole focus of attention. A jury panel consisting of architects, engineers and council leaders will recommend a shortlist of up to four designs, which will be developed into more detailed proposals. The winner is set to be announced in July.
The purpose of the competition is to identify the best team, capable of designing and delivering a unique landmark bridge for this part of London and to explore what the various design options might be; it is not to select a specific design.
