Aluminum sculptures by Vienna-based artist Sebastien de Ganay. The first thing that comes to my mind when I look at these works are the cardboard boxes containing clothes or food that you fold or stamp on for recycling. The playful red and blue sculptures with their edges turned to the viewer or towards the wall are folded in the manner of origami paper that challenges the viewer to consider them as picture or object, which is what the artist intended.
On view at Galerie Nikolaus Ruzicska Sept. 25–Oct. 31.
