New paintings by Japanese artist Atsushi Koyama depicting mechanical devices that come apart and expand while gently held in suspension, elevated, and supported by parts of the human body. Koyama's visualization of the Meta-Machine, in which the devices transform and regenerate themselves, makes the mechanisms supernatural and exists in a parallel world that share the same rights for beauty and sublime as the human body, by being a natural extension of it.
I don’t transfer what I have caught and understood in my head onto a picture plane, but just draw things because I cannot digest them. I want to see the vestige of what I selected and how I drew through the working process. Thus, my artworks focus on my activity of creation.Images courtesy of Frantic Gallery.
