You can always find beauty in decay as in this series by Munich-based photographer Robert Götzfried. While traveling from Washington D.C. to Memphis, he took the road less-traveled and was able to capture dilapidated structures and buildings that have been abandoned due to economic reasons. The unremarkable architecture have their own stories to tell and sometimes, it pays to stop and take notice.
When I drove through the southern states of the USA, I decided to avoid the interstates and travel on the back roads instead. I found amazing places in a world that only existed in the past, I thought. Obviously I was wrong.
