A set of six animal stamps for the Royal Mail by London-based multidisciplinary design consultancy Osborne Ross. Designed to appeal to children and adults, the hands, feet or tails of the animals fold around the edges of the envelopes giving them the impression of clinging to the sides or hanging from the top. The playful designs were reworked to conform to the Royal Mail's technical requirements and several variants were tried out through the postal system before the studio settled on these six stamps.
We presented several ideas but this was the one that everyone liked from the very start. We tried variants using people but animals gave more scope in terms of hanging and clinging onto things; they were also inherently cuter.+
