Charcoal drawings of animals that have a photographic quality by London-based artist Jonathan Delafield Cook. Having trained as an architectural draughtsman in Japan, his attention to detail is remarkable. Much of his time is spent in the research collections of museums exploring species of animal and plant kingdoms. He has a strong interest in the areas where art and science overlap and while direct references to the long tradition of scientific classification and illustration can be made, Cook is engaged in creating works of art for their graphic, abstract or tonal potential.
Jonathan Delafield Cook's drawings are available at Purdy Hicks Gallery.
