Paintings of figures submerged in water by Florida-based artist Reisha Perlmutter. The paintings are meant to "inspire the attention of the viewer to enter into a moment of stillness and silence and experience the palpability of water." Time becomes less specific and according to her, what matters are the sensations that are felt and the memories of those feelings that encourages the viewer to dwell in a meditative moment of peace.
The series is about merging time, about memories becoming present experience. It is about weightlessness, and our deep connection to our senses beyond the confines of thought or intellect. It is about feeling, about oneness, and being. Light is critical to these works. It is metaphorical of course in terms of internal illumination, but also directly necessary in evoking sensation and beauty through its presence and inherent complexity. On view at Ponyhof Artclub through January 14.
