A tiny, cantilevered cabin located on Mount Kanin, Slovenia by OFIS Arhitekti. The cabin is made from a combination of cross-laminated timber, glass and aluminum panels. Measuring 9.7 square-meters, the interior has three shelf-like floors facing a large, glazed panoramic window that offers astonishing views of the surrounding landscape. The concept cabin is meant as a destination for hikers, climbers, nature lovers and romantics and is only accessible by climbing or by helicopter.
The challenge is to install real objects, shelters in 1:1 on remote sites and study their response to extreme weather, radical temperature shifts, snow and rugged terrain. The harsh conditions of wind, snow, landslides, terrain, and weather require a response of specific architectural forms, structures and concept.+
