What is this?

Hello, I'm Jason Jose and I'm the creator of Faith is Torment. I started this blog on March 2011 just to serve as a daily dose of inspiration and as a design reference. The images I post here are curated from the art and design world, mostly stuff I like but I think will appeal to everybody as well. As an artist/painter, I respond more to visual things than reading about something so I'm just posting images that require little to no explanation. Also, I think the artist/designer/agency can explain their work better than I can. I work for a museum, doing graphic design, so I'm exposed to art daily but given the choice, I'd rather be in a studio painting all day.

Why the name "Faith is Torment"?

I was trying to figure out a name for a blog and happened upon a cinemagraph of the movie The Seventh Seal (1957) with this caption: Faith is a torment. It is like loving someone who is out there in the darkness but never appears, not matter how loudly you call. I thought it was appropriate for an art and design blog so I decided to call it Faith is Torment.

Design Philosophy

I subscribe to the Swiss Style, better known as International Style. I like white space, uniformity, and geometry in design with minimal style elements.
