Paintings by Lara Cobden
Floral paintings arranged in a jewel-like fashion to make them easily identifiable.
Based on a central theme of recollection and a sense of place my paintings are informed by observation, memory and dream: an imagined, coverted past that is unreal, a magical realism. Recognizable but not specifically representational, my paintings pull between the chimerical and the familiar—reinterpreting the ordinary and exploring the boundaries between memories and fact, reality and imagination. These paintings are a subjective and individual response to the natural world around me, seeing the fantastical and magical in nature.
