This ongoing series by Munich-based photographer Robert Gotzfried takes a look at church organs shot in Southern Germany. Growing up in this region and being surrounded by Catholic churches inspired Gotzfried to shoot this series focusing on organs with their different styles, both traditional and modern. He states that he enjoys the buildings themselves and finds that more and more people choose to go to churches to get away from the constant noise and stress of city life.
For me it is the most amazing experience to shoot these places. I go there when nobody is around. You can still smell the incense in the air, you kind of still hear the bombastic sound of the organ but it’s all quiet. Every step echoes and you automatically get very calm yourself. Every little sound feels like eternal noise.See more of Robert Gotzfried's work on Behance or at his website.
