Beautiful black and white photos of Tuscany by Dublin-based photographer Dermot Russell. He states that during a recent trip, he was initially attracted to the cypress trees but was also captivated by the land itself. After the crops had been harvested, the land had "almost fluid-like characteristics" and that there were "rolls and waves, curves and lines, all blending together in harmonious ways."
In some ways, it is clearly a minimal approach but we normally imagine minimal photography to have a subject in a minimal setting. There is no clear subject here. The words that seem to fit most to me are emptiness and essence. The scene is empty of subject but it communicates the essence.See more of Dermot Russell's work on Behance or at his website.
